Free Education
Education provided by any maintained school for its registered pupils should be free of charge if it takes
place wholly or mainly during school hours, school hours being those hours when a school is actually in
session and not including the break in the middle of the day. This means that neither the pupil nor his or her parents or guardian may be required to pay for, or to supply, any materials, books, instruments or other equipment for use in connection with education provided during school hours.
Voluntary Contributions
The school invites parents to contribute to the cost incurred when organising school trips or visits to enrich the curriculum, swimming lessons or workshops in school. All contributions are voluntary. If we do not receive sufficient voluntary contributions, we may have to cancel a trip or activity.
Residential visits
If the school organises a residential visit in school time, or mainly in school time, which is to provide education directly related to the National Curriculum, we do not make any charge for the education element. However, parents are obliged to at least pay for the residential expenses of such trips, and we also ask parents to contribute to the full cost of the travel and activity expenses as these are beyond the scope of our main school budget. A scheme will be available on Parent Pay to allow parents to spread the cost of such trips over a longer period of time.
Pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium Funding, will be eligible for a reduced cost - usually 50% - in relation to school trips/activities.
Free School Meals
Children in Year 3 and above can get free school meals if their parents or carers get certain benefits. These benefits include:
Universal Credit - GOV.UK (your yearly income must be below £7,400 after tax. Your monthly income cannot be over £616.67.)
Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) - GOV.UK
Income-based Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) - GOV.UK
Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 - GOV.UK
The Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit - GOV.UK
