Religious Education

Children at St Thomas a Becket Catholic Primary School learn about the Catholic Faith and Gospel Values and this is at the centre of all we do. Children are valued and respected as individuals as we look to follow Jesus’ example always.

We follow the scheme of work, ‘Come and See’ as recommended by the diocese of Arundel and Brighton from Years 1 - 6. The ‘Come and See’ programme is based on the liturgical year of the Catholic Church and all children follow three themes throughout the year: The Church, Sacraments and Christian Living. In EYFS we follow the new RED curriculum which is enriched by Ways of Knowing.  The children will experience, be taught through and learn by understanding, discerning and responding.  Children will be able to See, Judge and Act.  In EYFS Religious Education is outlined in Branches and follows Hear, Believe, Celebrate and Live lenses.  Each RE lesson begins and ends with a prayer, and prayer is an integral part of school life.

The schools are well supported by Priests and we have children who attend from many Parishes in the area, including: Our Lady of Ransom, St Gregory’s, St Agnes, St George’s in Polegate, Christ the King in Langney, St Joachim’s in Hampden Park, and St Wilfred’s in Hailsham.
